Pseudocode.

My game idea is called Math Racer.
Math problems move automatically from the right side of the stage to the left.
The user controls a car's up and down movements with the arrow keys.
When the car drives through the correct answer, the points go up.

Math problems appear on the right side of the stage and move to the left.
When you press the up button, the car moves up.
When you press the down button, the car moves down.
If the car hits the correct answer, the score goes up.

Difficulties for Our Game.

The most difficult concept to teach for our topic is the ability to answer the questions quickly. We feel that the player will not be able to beat the game their first time.
Most of the tutorials we need are on the wiki, and some of the coding we'll need are on the mini game project page. I haven't about the design to help teach yet but I will.

Thanksgiving Break..

Thanksgiving break was ok for me. The first half of the week I honestly did nothing except sit in my room, and basically do nothing except maybe watch a movie or a play a game. The second half of my break consisted of going to Mount Airy, MD to visit my grandma. To tell you the truth, it was just as boring as it was at home.

Honestly, on weekends or on breaks, I can't think about school. I just can't comprehend it. I thought about what I was going to do when I came back but that was it. I was hoping to have internet at my grandma's so I could touch up on some things but it didn't happen.

Producer or Consumer?

After being in this class this semester I have thought about this. Since I love to play video games, why not make this a possible career? This class is very hard. I don't hate it, it's just hard. In making video games such as: Call of Duty, Uncharted, or even Gran Turismo 5, take years to make. Gran Turismo 5 was in the works for five years! Not only would it have been hard, but A LOT of work. At this moment in time I'm not sure if I want to pursue a career in producing games or not. It remains to be seen..

Yay Buttons!

Recently in Flash I learned how to use and make buttons in flash. I thought it was really interesting. It wasn't really that hard after I think about it. The coding was kind of difficult at first, but when I realized on how to do it, it was easier than what I made it out to be. The tutorials were really helpful for me. I just have to watch the tutorials more than once to get it right.

The Last Blog..

Please disregard of what was being said in my last blog. After actually getting used to using flash, I kind of understand it better. I just have to watch the tutorials closer and better. Along with reading the wiki. So, again please disregard what was said in my last blog. Thanks.

So Far in Game Design..

So far in Game Design I'm honestly starting to dislike this class. I have never used flash before and it is to complicated to use. The tutorials aren't that helpful either. Also, since I have not used Flash before, there should be more time to do the assignments for the game demo. I am most likely going to get a zero because I am having a hard time finishing it. I can already tell that I will not be taking Game Design 2, that's for sure. I thought I would be having a fun and awesome time in Game Design. I guess I was wrong..

Drawing our Scenes

This lesson wasn't to complicated. There were a few things we changed about our game. One of these being is that we changed our background. Instead of doing scenes we decided to do a scrolling background. Not because we're lazy and don't want to trace all of our scenes, it's just that we feel doing this would make our game look better. It took some time and detailing, but it looks great.

As I begin to make my game, I'm really excited about...

I don't know what I'm really excited about as I begin my game creation. I just to hurry and get started and finish it to see how it turns out. I'm nervous about not understanding what to do when i get there, but I'll sure I'll be fine. I just want to play my game when it's done and enjoy it. I also hope that others will like it.

Here is our idea for the game:
My game idea is a racing game with math intertwined with it. My partner and I wish it to be a fun game that everyone can enjoy. We want the car in the game to be racing down a road with math problems coming up on the screen. Then the player must control the car to go through a box with the correct answer. If the player gets it correct, they have additional time added on and have longer time and have a better chance at finishing the game. My partner and I want others to have fun while playing out game.

Games

Do you play games in your free time? Which ones do you play and why are they your favorite?  Of course I play games in my free time. I like to play a variety of video games. Such as: God of War 3, Uncharted 2, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, Assassin's Creed 2 , and Killzone 2. Those are four different types of games. Two are shooters, one's action-adventure, one's hack and slash, and one is kind of like a stealth game. I usually played Modern Warfare 2 online a lot, but I haven't been letting it interfere with school. Even though I love playing video games, I have to keep in mind that I'm still a student. But I don't ever see myself not playing video games. I own quite a few gaming systems and accessories. Such as: Playstation 1, Playstation 2, Playstation 3, Playstation Portable, Nintendo 64, and a Gameboy. I mostly play my Playstation 3 since my PS2 is broke and PS1's cables are lost. But, anyway, I love playing video games.

Uncharted 2 is one my most favorite games to date.

What genre I'm most interested in.

What game genre I'm most interested in? I honestly don't know yet. Since it has to be educational, it will be complicated. If I want to make an action or an adventure game, it will have to be complex since I must integrate educational standards in to it. What about racing? That would be an extremely hard educational game to make. Sports would not be to complicated to make educational. Some kids want to learn more about sports.
I know this blog is short. I would have more to write if I had a genre that I'm most interested in designing my game. That's all for now.

Why Privacy is Important.

When it comes to using the internet and setting up accounts on different websites, you need to be careful! When you set up accounts, they ask for some of your personal information. Websites say they are security protected, but you can't believe everything you read on the internet. Also, when you're on a website, on the side of the page you will see ads for free items. They're scams. They ask for your personal information. Such as your social security number and credit card numbers. Never do that. Another thing is getting "phished". "Phished" is getting spammed by emails and other forms being hacked. When this happens you need to change your password. Make sure you are the only one that knows your password. Not even your best friend. Just don't.
Most people think that privacy really doesn't matter, but it does! When it happens to you, you'll realize that your were wrong.

My first blog!

What kind of game do I want to make? That's a good question. I honestly don't know what type of game I want to make yet. There are different types of games to make out there. The decision is the hardest part, I think. Do I want to make an educational game or an adventure type game? Whatever the funnest kind of game to make will be fine with me. As long as I have fun doing it and not getting frustrated about it. Since I love to play video games myself, I want to have a good experience in this class. Game design is something I am highly considering doing after high school.

What am I most scared or excited about? I'm not nervous or scared about anything in this class. I'm excited because I will learning a lot about game design and actually designing a game. I'm very excited about this class. I don't know why anybody would be nervous about it. Awesome teacher and you're learning something awesome as well.

I guess that's all I have to really say.
